REFLECTIONS
FOR 2009 ON ENLIGHTENMENT
Growing
up includes a natural expansion of consciousness. Reason emerges as the
main guide to understanding. Language is a preparatory tool.
Mature personalities learn to think additionally with visual
images (on the "right brain").
These link informatively into symbolic sequences like words do.
Language thereby exemplifies how to use our natural ability to look
right-at reality (with common sense and civilized feeling).
Activation of one's whole mind thus affords an adult approach to
practical problems. These have been generated largely--over the
ages--by unbalanced, childish preoccupation with preparatory language.
Humans have long lived,
consequently, in a "shadow" world: absorbed with the conjecture
and belief bestowed by words
alone. It is now time to enter the real
world.

In my
opinion the revolutionary election of Barack Obama today heralds that
new beginning and hopefully a
Global
Renaissance . . .

Note
(author's "closing" clarification): All words appearing in
this website are restricted to their usual usage as human expressions.
These may be regarded though as imperfect reflections of the
mythological WORD appearing in scripture.
Although our
words have been engraved deeply within--perhaps even down to a genetic
level--they can at most roughly represent that apparently abstract
SOURCE. My favorite approximations toward ITS mystery include Great
Spirit, Platonic Idea, Rational Wholeness-and Nature's God (Appearing
in our instructive DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE).
This
essentially religious
clarification has been composed at an apparently apocalyptic "brink."
No human seems to really know what lies ahead. The future may well
depend though upon a choice:
If humans
can conquer quickly
our gift of language (and ourselves in the process) perhaps a promised
era of Enlightenment looms ahead. If not, again,
nobody
seems to know . . .
